Stuck downtown this winter?
If your looking for a little winter fun without missioning all the way out to the hill? Believe it or not there are options to get your fix of snow!
Earl Bales Ski & Snowboard
Hopping on a bus heading North on Bathurst will take you directly to Earl Bales Ski & Snowboard Hill. Granted, its not the biggest hill in the world, or even Ontario, but its something and it is a stone's throw away! With a chairlift and a surface lift, the hills 1,000 foot (305 meter) runs pale in comparison to the likes of other nearby mountains, but it's better than nothing! It's a great place to learn without heading too far!
Those of us without vehicles, know what a bummer it is to even fathom getting to a hill. Fortunately, there are options! There are shuttle services out there that will take you to Blue Mountain. So if you are ready to Pony Up the dough, this place will get you to and from Blue right from City Hall. These guys offer you a ride in style for $25 each way! Getting from Downtown Toronto to Blue Mountain doesn't have to be as complicated as you think!
At some point, you need to say 'enough is enough!' and do whatever it takes to get out there!
Other than that you're going to have to mission it! Zip Car and other car sharing services exist. Hell, even renting a car isn't that bad!
Up for a bit of a mission?
Glen Eden has got some Shuttles too and from the Milton Go Station!
We all know that strangers get a pretty bad rap, but there are ride sharing programs out there too! Who knows, maybe you'll make a new friend for life! Worst case, you just have a buddy to ride with for the day! Well, actual worst case would be getting hacked up and having your organs harvested and later found dumped in a snowy ditch on the side of the 401, but that's a pessimists argument! It's worth a shot! So those of you with vehicles heading to a hill, please offer a fellow shredder a lift!
Have you gone riding in Ontario this season? How has it been? Let us know what you think!
