The PSYCHOCANDY has additional sizes this year to accommodate all riders. The shape is based on the innovative WARPIG, so the board is designed to be ridden 3 to 6 cms shorter than your standard board and approaches the mountain with the same ideology attitude that the WARPIG is known for. A Tapered Bi-Radial Sidecut maximizes grip and allows the PSYCHOCANDY to maintain speed in all conditions. Carbon Slimewalls® enhance response and stability. The PSYCHOCANDY is a directional all-mountain board designed to ride like a WARPIG so you can tackle any and all terrain the mountain has to offer, be it park, pipe, pow or slush.
FROM RIDE SNOWBOARDS:
We’re not perfect. Running a Snowboard business is hard. It’s a series of compromises to get anything done. We’ve done some dumb things over the years but that doesn’t mean we can’t be better. Today it should be clear to all snowboarders that if we don’t start making changes in how we live there won’t be snow for us to chase. The climate is changing, and we can do better. The snowboarding lifestyle isn’t ecofriendly. It never has been. We’ve got to get to the mountains on a planes/trains/automobiles. Chairlifts need energy. Houses need heat. The products we make use resources, create waste, and require transportation. There is an environmental cost to everything humans do. We can never eliminate that, but we can do better. We can create less waste, use less resources, build longer lasting products and work with people on the front lines of this battle to learn and change what we’ve been doing.
We admire Akomplice and what they’ve done to run a sustainable business, so we partnered with them to make this limited edition Psychocandy. Their graphics help draw attention to the simple fact that we can all be a little bit better stewards of the earth. Regardless of your political or social stance on climate change, we can all agree that we can use less resources and build better products while still living and experiencing the world.
We built the board; Akomplice did the graphics. We hope this helps draw attention to the work that Akomplice has been doing, and it gives us the chance to talk about what we are doing.
This board will be a limited run of less than 500. Â
We’re not perfect, but we’re getting better.
We are partnering with Akomplice to help the Arhuaco indigenous tribe in Columbia protect their land from deforestation and development. More info here.
 FROM AKOMPLICE:
Akomplice continues to use its voice to issue the rallying cry of the global climate crisis. This time, they’re doing so in partnership with snowboarding powerhouse and former collaborators, Ride Snowboards. The collab consists of a snowboard bearing one of three Akomplice graphics as well as a small range of apparel that illustrates the climate crisis. The graphics paint a stark picture of the world’s monuments besieged by water from glacial melt, superstorms, and rising sea levels. The art piece depicting the snowboard encased in a block of ice serves as a metaphor for seeing the crisis clearly, but time to act melting away. There will be a live installation of the art piece, created by ice sculptor Thomas Barlow, exhibited in Aspen, CO. The piece will be left there to melt, to further make the collaborators’ point. Adorned on top of the board is a message that states the collection’s purpose succinctly:
THERE IS STILL TIME TO ACT. THE UNITED NATION’S MOST RECENT CLIMATE REPORT GIVES HUMANS UNTIL 2030 TO ADDRESS THE EARTH’S CLIMATE CRISIS. SCIENTISTS WARN THAT CLIMATE CHANGE IS AN IMMINENT THREAT TO THE SURVIVAL OF HUMANITY AND THE WORLD’S VITAL ECOSYSTEMS.
